Live Dendrobaena Composting Worms

Our composting worm packs contain healthy Dendrobaena worms at various stages of development, helping to establish a healthy, breeding population within your wormery. Our packs are normally supplied as a natural mix of healthy juveniles and adults, although as a live product, the exact mix of worm sizes may vary depending on availability. Fed daily on our own Downswood Worm Food before being packed fresh on the day of dispatch in moisture-retaining coconut coir, they're ready to get to work as soon as they arrive.

Why Choose Dendrobaena Worms?

Dendrobaena worms (Dendrobaena veneta), sometimes known simply as Dendros, are a popular choice for home wormeries thanks to their adaptability and ability to thrive in the UK's temperate climate. As one of the larger composting worm species, they're well suited to processing a wide range of kitchen scraps and organic waste. For more advice on the do's and don'ts of feeding your composting worms, see our What to Feed Composting Worms guide.

Under the right conditions, Dendrobaena worms will naturally reproduce and establish a healthy, productive population within your wormery, continually producing nutrient-rich vermicompost. Whether you're starting a new worm farm or expanding an existing one, they're an excellent choice for year-round home composting.

Which Pack Size Do I Need?

Choosing the right pack size depends on whether you're starting a new wormery, expanding an existing one or simply topping up your worm population.

100g – Ideal for topping up an established wormery, introducing composting worms into a small compost bin or starting a compact wormery.

250g – A great choice for starting most home wormeries or increasing the population in a slower or less active wormery.

500g – Recommended for larger wormeries, multiple compost bins or anyone looking to establish a strong, productive breeding population and begin processing larger quantities of kitchen waste sooner.

Storage & Care

Transfer your Dendrobaena worms into a suitable ventilated container or wormery as soon as possible after they arrive, along with the coconut coir they are packed in.

Dispatch & Delivery

Every order is packed fresh on the day of dispatch to help ensure your worms arrive in the best possible condition.

All live worm orders are sent using Royal Mail Tracked 24 or an equivalent tracked next working day service, helping to get your worms to you as quickly as possible.

To minimise the risk of parcels being delayed over the weekend, we normally dispatch live worm orders on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We may also dispatch on Thursday if temperatures are suitable and the destination can be reached within the expected delivery timeframe.

As live animals, our worms should be unpacked as soon as possible after delivery and transferred into a suitable wormery or ventilated container.
