Where Downswood Worms Began
Downswood Worms grew from three long-standing interests of mine: fishing, gardening, and keeping reptiles and terrapins.
I’ve been fishing for around 30 years, and I’ve always appreciated the difference that good, lively bait can make. I’ve also enjoyed gardening for a long time, and I’ve kept various reptiles and terrapins, giving me personal experience of keeping animals that benefit from live food.
Downswood Worms brings those interests together — supplying quality worms for fishing, exotic pets and composting, alongside the products and practical advice to help you get the most from them.
Built from Experience
When I started Downswood Worms, I wanted to create something straightforward: a place where you could buy healthy, carefully selected worms without having to worry about whether you’re getting the right product or how to look after it.
Whether you’re buying worms for an axolotl, heading to the bank for a day’s fishing, or putting them to work in a compost bin, the basics matter. Healthy worms, sensible packaging and clear information all make a difference.
That’s why we take care over every order and continue to build our range around the things that worm keepers, anglers, gardeners and pet owners actually need.
More Than Just Worms
We don’t believe buying worms should be the end of the conversation.
Our free guides are designed to give you practical, straightforward advice — from storing Dendrobaena worms and feeding axolotls to using worms for composting and getting the best from them as fishing bait.
We’re constantly adding to our guides as we learn and develop the business, so there’s always somewhere to find useful information when you need it.
A Small Business with a Simple Approach
Downswood Worms is a small UK business, and that’s something we’re proud of.
We don’t try to be everything to everyone. We concentrate on supplying good-quality worms and related products, packing them properly, and giving our customers the information they need.
No unnecessary fuss — just good worms and straightforward advice.
